During the meeting, some white people burned down the school house and some of the colored people's farm. Pascal's neighbor was hung and all his cows were shot but his wife and children escaped. Pascal's brother , Gideon, found a box of gold under the ghost tree. Gideon and Gladness got married and all there neighbors came to the wedding.
