Chantz Feb. 1st, 2011. " Forty Acres and A Mule" Pgs 70-90

Other colored people helped them build their house and farm there land. Pascal thought their farm house was the best house ever. The Bibbs came down with an illness that killed two of their children. They helped the Bibbs by feeding them and farming their land. They started school and learned to read and do math. At school, white children wrote on tablets but black people had to write in the dirt. Pascal thought he might find treasure under a ghost tree. The white people made blacks sign work contracts that made them work for one year on the white farms for free. Pascal said this was just like slavery all over again.
