In these chapters Emily's mother is a maid. Emily is a reckless carriage driver. One day while Emily was driving the carriage  it tipped and only the horse was saved. Emily became an orphan and was to live with her aunt. Then an orphan catcher came and told her to live with her uncle. But her uncle was a mean man and didn't like children. So she escaped to a train and went to live with her aunt.
