Ruby found a picture of her and her parents when she was a baby. Her Grandmaother caught her with the picture and accused her of stealing it. Back in Way Down Mrs.Arbutus had told her story about her crazy dream, and how Ruby had arrived in Way Down. After Ruby's Grandmother accused her of stealing the picture she decided it was time for her to go home. She packed her bages and headed out in the woods.
Mrs.Combs found Ruby in the woods. They talked for a while and Mrs.Combs asked if she might could go with her to The Roost. Gradma explained why she was so mean and angry and demanding all the time.
Ruby's uncle took her to The Roost. Mrs.Arbutus and everyone were very happy to see Ruby again. Grandma apologized to Chris and the boys for her behavior. They helped her prepare to move to The Roost. At the end of the story Ruby told Mrs.Arbutus what she learned on Younder Mountain. She was woken in the night by a carnival truck pulling in for Kid's Day.
